THE ILLUSION OF HAVING IT ALL FIGURED OUT

There is a very specific kind of exhaustion that comes from acting like your life is moving in a straight line when it is actually just moving in circles inside your head.

Somewhere along the way we all started believing that adulthood must come with clarity. It should always have a fixed plan with a five-step roadmap, a dream so polished that it can be introduced in one sentence without hesitation. If you do not have that then somehow you begin to feel behind. Not lost exactly. Just embarrassingly unfinished in a world where everyone else seems to be announcing what they are building.

You just scroll through you phone for five minutes and it feels like everyone has something going on. Either someone is building a brand or someone is launching a side hustle and romanticising it. Someone is “working on something big.” Even rest has become strategic now. It feel like even the confusion has to be packaged as a phase of growth and nobody really wants to admit but they are simply unsure.

This is where the real pressure begins. Because  the hardest thing today is not failure. But it is the fear of looking directionless or simply the fear of not having a neat answer when someone asks what you want to do with your life. The fear of saying “I do not know yet” in a culture that worships certainty like it is a personality trait.

Still there is something deeply human about not knowing. You must understand that not every season of life is meant to be productive in a visible way. Some phases are only meant to be survived. There will be years in your life that are only meant to teach you what does not feel like you anymore. Certain different versions of growth happen quietly. They do not come with applause or a LinkedIn post or a carefully curated “journey.”

That does not make them less real. Most of us are not walking around with everything figured out. We are just learning how to carry our uncertainty with better posture. Every other person is just trying to look calm while privately wondering if we are wasting time, missing our chance or just choosing the wrong road entirely, but remember that a road not taken could sometimes prove to be a better option.

Maybe that is why so many people are obsessed with building something of their own. Be it a name, a space or a future that proves they are becoming someone. Yet sometimes I wonder if we are so busy trying to become that we forget to ask who we already are without the performance.

And it is okay that you are not okay right now, it may mean that you do not need a grand plan right now because you are still figuring things out.

Maybe being good at what you do is enough for this moment and you are allowed to be in between versions of yourself without treating it like a personal failure.

No one really talks about how brave it is to exist without a clear map. So if you have not figured it all out yet that is okay.

"Truthfully most people have only mastered the illusion of certainty."

And maybe life was never about having all the answers. It is always about learning how to live honestly while you search for them.
